Play Therapy

Kat holds a Play Therapy Certificate with a Neurorelational Emphasis and has worked with children in various capacities for over ten years. She is passionate about helping children grow into compassionate, well-adjusted adolescents, young adults, and adults, equipping them with the tools to navigate life's challenges. Investment: $175 Initial Assessment (Parent Only) $155 - 50 Minute sessions Why Play Matters: Play is crucial to human well-being and happiness, as important as love and work. It boosts creativity, self-expression, and emotional regulation, and provides stress relief. Play also enhances social connections and cognitive development, offering a safe space for learning and practicing life skills. Why Play in Therapy? Play therapy is an effective, evidence-based approach, especially for children. It helps them express emotions, resolve conflicts, and build healthier behaviors. Rather than just "playing," it uses play to communicate when words are insufficient. Through play, children can process difficult emotions and experiences in a supportive setting. How Does Play Therapy Work? In play therapy, children use play as a tool to explore their feelings and solve problems. The therapist observes and guides, helping children resolve emotional difficulties, develop coping strategies, and reframe their thinking. Who Benefits from Play Therapy? Play therapy is ideal for children aged 3-12, but it can also benefit teens, adults, and even infants. It’s particularly helpful for those dealing with trauma, anxiety, grief, behavioral issues, and developmental challenges. How Play Therapy Helps: - Encourages responsibility and emotional expression - Develops creative problem-solving and social skills - Cultivates empathy and self-esteem - Enhances relationships with family members - Increases self-assurance and emotional resilience How Long Does Play Therapy Take? Sessions typically last 30-50 minutes and are held weekly. Most children need around 20 sessions to see improvement, but progress varies depending on the complexity of the issues. Family Involvement: Families are an important part of the healing process. Parents may be involved in sessions or in modifying their interactions at home. Working together with the therapist helps the child heal more effectively.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Kat specializes in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an innovative, evidence-based form of psychotherapy designed to help clients overcome trauma, stress, and emotional distress. ART uses guided eye movements to help reprocess and replace painful memories, sensations, and emotions stored in the brain and body. Unlike traditional therapy, ART allows you to retain the factual details of your experiences while releasing the emotional and physiological distress associated with them. This powerful approach helps you "keep the knowledge and lose the pain." Session Details & Pricing Initial Consultation / Intake Assessment: 50 minutes – $175 Initial ART Session: 90 minutes $235 Subsequent ART Sessions: 50 minutes – $155 How Does ART Work? ART utilizes bilateral eye movements while following a structured protocol. Through a technique called Voluntary Memory/Voluntary Image Replacement, clients re-script distressing memories and replace them with neutral or positive images. This process desensitizes emotional triggers, reducing distress and fostering resilience. ART works rapidly, often bringing relief within just one to four sessions. ART vs. EMDR – What's the Difference? While ART and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) both use eye movements, ART is unique in its structured approach to memory replacement. ART works more directly with the brain’s connection between negative images, emotional responses, and physiological reactions. This can lead to faster and more lasting relief compared to other trauma-focused therapies. What Issues Can ART Address? ART has been successfully used to treat a wide range of challenges, including: ADHD Addictions (alcohol, substances, food) Anger Anxiety Athletic performance concerns/enhancement Betrayal trauma Body dysmorphia Bullying (fear & effects of bullying) Business enhancement/growth/fear issues Childhood trauma Claustrophobia Concussion/TBI Depression Disordered eating Dissociative symptoms Fear and shame Fine motor skills First responder trauma Flashbacks Grief and loss Guilt Injury recovery Issues surrounding sexuality Law enforcement trauma/fear Medical trauma Military trauma Narcissistic abuse recovery Nightmares & sleep issues Obsessive-compulsive behaviors/disorders Phobias Physical and mental challenges Physical pain & injuries Pornography addiction Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD/CPTSD) Postpartum / Motherhood issues Public speaking issues Relational / marital issues Selective mutism Sexual dysfunction / Sexual addiction Stroke symptoms Suicidal ideations Tinnitus Trauma from death by suicide Trauma from sexual, physical & emotional abuse Trauma-induced body tremors Traumatic events (shootings, death, natural disasters) Trichotillomania Is ART Right for You? ART is an excellent option if you: ✔️ Prefer a therapy approach that does not require talking in detail about painful experiences ✔️ Want to feel relief quickly (ART can resolve issues in as little as one to four sessions) ✔️ Are looking for a structured, effective approach to healing trauma and emotional distress How long are ART sessions? The first ART session is typically 90 minute. Follow-up sessions can range from 60 to 90 minutes depending on individual needs. Do I need to talk about my trauma for ART to work? No. Unlike traditional talk therapy, ART does not require you to verbally recount your trauma unless you choose to. The process is visual and internally guided, making it an excellent option for individuals who find discussing traumatic experiences overwhelming. Is ART a form of hypnosis? No. During ART, you remain fully in control and aware of your surroundings. The technique focuses on empowering you to change your relationship with distressing memories, not altering your state of consciousness. What is Voluntary Image Replacement? Each time we recall a memory, our brain naturally alters it slightly—a process called memory reconsolidation. ART harnesses this process, allowing you to actively replace distressing images with more positive or neutral ones, leading to long-term relief. Is ART backed by research? Yes, ART is an evidence-based treatment supported by clinical studies. It incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Image Re-scripting, Guided Imagery, Exposure Therapy, and Brief Psychodynamic Therapy. Are there any side effects? ART is generally well tolerated. Some clients report mild fatigue, tired eyes, or a positive emotional release after sessions. Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful, neuroscience-based therapy that helps process and release deeply stored emotional and physical trauma. By identifying specific "brainspots"—eye positions connected to unresolved experience. Brainspotting allows the brain to access and heal issues at their core. This focused treatment engages the body’s natural ability to process pain, trauma, dissociation, and other distressing symptoms in a safe and supportive environment. Investment $175 Initial Assessment Appointment $155 50 minute Brainspotting Session How Does Brainspotting Work? Developed in 2003 by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting uses a client’s visual field to locate areas in the brain linked to emotional and physical distress. When a brainspot is identified and the client focuses on it, the brain begins to process and release stored trauma. Because trauma is held in both the brain and body, Brainspotting helps activate deep healing where other therapies may not reach. Brainspotting sessions can be enhanced with bilateral sound, which helps regulate the nervous system and deepen the healing process. Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting does not require verbal processing, allowing clients to work through trauma without having to recount painful memories. Why Choose Brainspotting? Brainspotting is highly effective for individuals struggling with trauma, emotional distress, and performance-related issues. This therapy: - Accesses and resolves trauma at the subconscious level - Bypasses the cognitive brain, reaching deeply stored memories and emotions - Allows healing without the need to verbally discuss the trauma - Helps regulate emotions and reduce distress in a safe environment - Provides lasting relief by reprocessing and integrating traumatic experiences Who Can Benefit from Brainspotting? Brainspotting is effective for a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to: - Trauma & PTSD (CPTSD) - Anxiety & panic disorders - Depression - Chronic pain & physical trauma - Grief & loss - Addictions & compulsive behaviors - Phobias & fears - ADHD & focus issues - Performance anxiety (athletic, creative, business) - Dissociation & emotional numbness - Relationship & attachment issues - First responder & military trauma - Childhood trauma & adverse experiences - Maternal/postpartum concerns What to Expect in a Brainspotting Session - A calm and supportive environment tailored to your needs - Identification of your brainspot using a pointer and tracking eye movements - The option to use bilateral sound/music for deeper healing - Somatic experiences such as emotional releases, body sensations, or memory recall - A client-led process—speak as little or as much as you feel comfortable - Sessions typically last 50 minutes with extended sessions available upon request After Your Brainspotting Session Brainspotting initiates deep healing that continues beyond the session. You may experience: ✔️ Emotional breakthroughs & new perspectives ✔️ Feelings of relaxation, calmness, or exhaustion ✔️ Reduction in physical symptoms & chronic pain ✔️ Heightened emotional sensitivity or relief ✔️ Increased mental clarity and reduced distress To support your healing, hydration, rest, and self-care are recommended after your session. Many clients notice additional insights and shifts in the days following their session. How Many Sessions Will I Need? The number of sessions varies based on individual needs. Some clients experience significant relief after just one session, while others choose ongoing Brainspotting to address deeper or multiple concerns. No-Talk Therapy Option Brainspotting is unique in that talking is not required for healing. If you prefer a non-verbal approach, you can process your experiences silently while still achieving profound results.
