Appointments, Cancellations & No Shows

To avoid cancellation fees, please cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before an appointment will be charged the full session fee.

  • Standard psychotherapy sessions are 50 minutes, though session length can be adjusted based on your needs. Any changes must be discussed and scheduled in advance.

  • If you arrive late, your session will still end at the scheduled time to accommodate other clients.

  • No shows will be charged the full session fee. After two consecutive no shows any remaining appointments will be cancelled and removed from the schedule.

Billing & Payment

  • Payment for services will be charged at the time of your appointment.

  • Any unpaid balances (including late cancellations and no show fees), must be settled before scheduling future appointments.

  • Accounts over 30 days past due may be subject to additional fees or suspension of services.

Payment Methods

Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance. Accepted payment methods include:

  • Credit/Debit Cards

  • Cash or Check

  • Electronic Payments (if applicable)

A credit card may be kept on file for convenience and to ensure timely payments.

Insurance & Reimbursement

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a Superbill, which you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Telephone Accessibility

If you need to contact me between sessions, please text or leave a voicemail. I will make every effort to return your call within 24 hours, though I may not always be immediately available as sessions are typically back to back. In an emergency or crisis situation, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

While in-person/telehealth sessions are preferable, phone sessions are available if you are out of town, unwell, or need additional support.

Social Media & Confidentiality

To protect your privacy and maintain professional boundaries, I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.). If you have questions about this, we can discuss them in session.

Electronic Communication

Please be aware that electronic communication (email, text messages) is not completely secure. If you prefer to communicate about scheduling or cancellations via text or email, I will accommodate this. However, please do not use these methods for discussing confidential or therapeutic matters.

Teletherapy & California Telemedicine Law

If you choose to receive therapy via phone, video, or other electronic means, you should be aware of the following:

  1. You may withhold or withdraw consent for teletherapy at any time.

  2. All confidentiality protections apply to teletherapy.

  3. You have the right to access your medical records from teletherapy sessions.

  4. Your identifiable health information will not be shared without your consent.

  5. Teletherapy offers benefits such as increased accessibility and convenience but also has limitations, such as the inability to observe nonverbal cues.

Couples Therapy

When working with couples, I do not take a stance on whether partners should stay together or separate. My role is to support your goals, whatever they may be.

By engaging in couples therapy, you acknowledge:

  • Information shared with me individually may be important for joint sessions, and I reserve the right (but not the obligation) to bring it up in session.

  • I cannot guarantee that your partner will keep shared information private.

Termination of Therapy

The conclusion of therapy is an important process and will be discussed to ensure a smooth transition. Therapy may be terminated if:

  • You are not using the sessions effectively.

  • You have an outstanding balance and fail to arrange payment.

  • You fail to schedule a session for three consecutive weeks without prior arrangements.

  • If your therapeutic needs fall outside of my scope of expertise or practice.

  • You become a threat in any way to the therapist. Any behavior that poses a threat to the therapist will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, verbal threats, physical intimidation, aggressive actions, stalking harassment, or any form of violence. Maintaining a safe and respectful environment is essential for effective therapy.

If therapy is terminated, I can provide a list of qualified therapists for continued care, or you may seek a provider of your choosing.
